Persevere with Logona Herbal Hair Colours and the results will be worthwhile. I invested £70 and a good few hours of experimental mixing and strand testing before I was able to achieve a result I was happy with. In the end, I purchased four different colours and also found that the clay based cleansing pre-treatment was beneficial. (This in itself seemed to tone down my original look before I started with the Logona colours). I have chemically coloured hair with some lighter blonde colours on a mid/dark brown natural base and wanted to stop the chemical process and find something more natural and cost effective. I wanted to tone down the lighter colours to match in with my natural colour whilst I grow it out. Originally I tried Chestnut Brown but it didn't touch my existing colour and I was disappointed. In the end, it was necessary to use the henna black as a base - I came up with a formula of half black, a quarter umber brown and a quarter mahogony. It was necessary to add the mahogony to change the blondest parts of my chemically treated hair a warm chestnut - without this, the henna black on its own made the blonde greenish. I was worried that the blonder dyed hair would be very absorbant and soak up the colour - in reality, getting any colour to 'take' on top of the blonde was the biggest challenge and I get the feeling that it was the redness of the Mahogony combined with the black that did the trick. I left a full eight weeks between the last salon chemical treatment and attempting this at home. I used coffee in the hot water mix and left it on for two full hours. I think I will need to repeat this process and build up the colour but at least I've managed to tone down the blonde look to achieve something far more warm and natural. I am a very allergic, sensitive person so for me it's worth the time and experimentation. The products are very gentle - if you spill or splash, they simply wipe away without staining. Aside from my initial investment, I reckon I will save £350 a year on salon colouring. It's fiddly to start with but I'm optimistic that this will be a safer, more economic process producing a warm, pretty look. I'm waving goodbye to the tangled, damaged mess chemicals have caused and moving onto a stylish new look!!
