Go for some festive spirit and only if you have some money to BURN. Gifts are expensive, food and drink are expensive but everything is set out very nicely and has a good atmosphere. Oh ya, don't think you'll get into the beer tent on Fri or Sat night, you'll have to queue like a nightclub and possibly encounter some suspect visitors to the tent.
