The Mastrad Roasting Thermo Sensor, the F73000, is a stylish and flexible remote sensor unit and a 1M detachable probe with silicon handle. The display flips up for easier reading or the clear readout. Optional either C or F display. You either accept the preselect type of meat and select how you like your meat, done to rare in five steps, or even better you can set your own target temperature and or use it as a cooking timer. This makes it ideal for jam making or cakes. When used for roast meat the sensor unit is kept outside of the oven and just the probe pushed and left in the meat.
The dsiplay shows the target temperature and the current actual temperature so you can easily monitor cooking progress. The sensor sounds the alarm when the temperature and or time is reached. The cord for the probe is thick, at least the metal leads will not get knotted and lose connection, but I do wonder how the oven door seal will cope on a fan oven. With all the options available at first the setup seems a little confusing. Now which is button A or D or M? Just a little practice and it becomes clear and you do get the choices.
No experience on durability and so far no need to call on service support so meaningful comments there either.
There are a couple of niggles. There is no docking bay for the probe and 1M of cord. So where and how to keep the probe when not immediately in use?
The temperature checks for the climb up to the target temperature but unfortunately cannot not cope with counting down as you would need when making yoghurt. Stylish but not necessarily very practical in a working kitchen. Still, one of the better home sensors I have come across.
