Booked megabus on 19th Nov 2010 to go to London on New Years Eve. Received confirmation email showing pick up point in Newport, Gwent. Waited on 31st Dec until 10am (pick up time was 9.45am) then rang them to be told pick up point had been changed. I explained that me confirmation stated this pick up point, at which point I was told that the pick up point had been changed for some months and that I would have to complain in writing. So I was left with no alternative to then purchase a train ticket, as I had a hotel and function booked in London for New Years Eve that I had been looking forward to for 2 months.
Checked Megabus website when I got home, showed that a service disruption report has been posted, but on 28TH DECEMBER, 3 DAYS BEFORE I WAS DUE TO TRAVEL!But nobody in megabus had thought to email me to let me know, was I expected to be checking their website 3 days before my trip!!??.
Needless to say I have emailed a complaint, and requested refund of my train ticket cost, and will be following this up.
To sum Megabus up - cheap, no customer service ethics, couldn't care less when things go wrong and don't keep their customers informed after they've taken their money! Never again!!
