“Seeing is believing and pictures are really deceiving....”

Seeing is believing and pictures are really deceiving. Like everyone else we googled on the net to look for the best affordable and money for value accommodation for a well deserved December holiday. We decided on Sentosas Guest House in Salt Rock. We booked far in advance and the account was paid in full 2 weeks before arrival. On arrival I was extremely disappointed. Firstly we noticed the deep freezer which was not in working order. We could not freeze the meat or coldrinks we brought with us from Johannesburg. There was no clean bedding and the pillows were so smelly. The lace curtains in the living room were torn, worn out and very dirty. The sliding door which is supposed to help in that extreme heat was broken and it could not open. The middle apartment in which we stayed that accommodated 12 people had no washing machine but had a small wash line with only 4 lines. We had days with lots of rain and because of the damp our clothes and towels could not dry. There was also no tumble dryer. There was no efficient cutlery or crockery, pots or pans. The cottage which accommodated 2 adults and a toddler did not have a bedroom window or any other means of circulation. The next morning they went to the mall to buy a fan so that they can get some rest at night. Uncovered life wires were found by the toddler behind the fridge. I phoned and spoke to the owner and expressed by grievances and disappointments and I was promised that everything will be sorted out the following day, which means a proper fan and clean bedding for both apartments which never happened. We had to use the same bedding for 7 night sleep which I find very unhygienic especially in that humidity, damn and heat. To my knowledge a guest house should abide to the rules. When I enquired about towels and soap in the bathrooms I was told that they don't supply those luxuries because it's a casual guest house...what a joke!!! They don't supply washing machines and dishwashers either. The washing machine on the premises is for the owners use only. Not even to mention the state outside the building. A man wonders what happens to the money paid for the accommodation as the 7 nights cost us in full R15,750.00 self catering. And let's not forget about the smell of dog feces surrounding the place and the over flowing of water on the balcony after a rain storm, and off course the creepy crawler pipes that were fixed up with some insulation tape. I would like to thank the caretaker and his wife for all their help and wish them all the best. Sentosas Guest House in Salt Rock....will not recommend it to anyone!!!! It's so unfair to be ripped off like that. I looked forward to this holiday but now I wish I never went. I could have spent that money for something much more valuable.
