We bought the Vitamix 5000 because the sales pitch was true and fantastic. We use it about 2-3 times a week to help make smooth soups and fruit smoothies. You really can cut down on preparing the food because, for example, you can put in the entire apple. It is so powerful it simply cuts through the fibre and you don't taste it! It is expensive at £425, but your costs are recouped with making your own healthy food. It's also very easy to clean - just whizz with hot water and a little washing liquid, rinse and it's ready to go for the next thing. The only down side is service & support - I e-mailed the company with a question and they didn't reply so I had to ring.
