John Orrell.'s Review of Fuji Sensia 100 Camera Film

Good Points

Vivid colours, excellent sharpness, wide contrast and high detail; good for nature/landsapes; Fuji returned my slides within five working days, clean and scratch-free, in decent mounts

Bad Points

Not so good under artificial light; there are better (more neutral) films if you mainly shoot portraits; like all slide-films this film requires spot-on exposure, so don't go using it in your cheap-o-matic compact

General Comments

I've just used this Fuji Sensia film to take some of the most important slides of my life: the first few days and weeks of the lives of my new-born twin boys. If it had messed things up, I could NEVER go back to retake the shots so this film HAD to deliver. I was using it with my Olympus OM4Ti (reviewed elsewhere on this site) and 50mm Zuiko lens. Thankfully, deliver it did.

As with most Fuji films, colours are very vivid, especially primary RGB ones. This film would be ideal taking colourful summertime landscapes and floral macro shots.

On the downside, knowing what I do now I probably won't choose it as a film for portraits as it will bless even a corpse with a colourful, rosey glow. Anyone with an already glowing complexion will come out looking embarrassed or sunburned!

Some of the photos I took of my twins in hospital exhibited more than an average colour-shift due to the artificial lights. Other films are perhaps more forgiving. Daylight shots are exceptional, and flash-lit shots are more than adequate.

So not the ideal film for every situation, but if you mainly shoot landscapes and nature you'll love it!
