I've just cancelled my BT broadband and line rental. After using BT for 10+ years with no problems we recently decided to upgrade to BT Infinity to improve our broadband speeds (recently slowed to half a meg consistently). The first engineer visit never occured and after explicitly stating I needed a phone call 30mins before the engineer arrived for the 2nd visit none was received and a "sorry we missed you" card was posted through the door.
After the second visit I attempted to call BT and re-arrange another engineer call out. I gave up after 1 hour on hold and another 45 minutes the next day. The only department I could get through to were the cancellation department and they would fob you off to another department as soon as possible, lying that you were first in the waiting list.
After feeling thoroughly mugged off I phoned up Virgin Media and have arranged to get their 50meg BB. I'm hoping their service is better and their engineers aren't dossers. BT intend to charge me £30 disconnection fee which I doubt they will ever see... dick heads
