“Bought a piaggio zip 50 cc, at first loved the bike,...”

Bought a piaggio zip 50 cc, at first loved the bike, it looked cool and was zippy and quick around traffic. But then it developed a squeal or squeek occasionally when it started, took it back for a check up at the dealers and got accused of running it without oil!!!! like I would ignore the oil light, any more than I would ignore the petrol light. Many arguments later, I took the bike back for test run, for the first 2 weeks it was fine and then just started dieing while driving. you would be "heading down the highway" (ok then, not really, its only a scooter, but that sounded better than street) and then suddenly looking for a curb to roll into. After a few minutes it would start and go as normal and then do the same and the same again till in the end it was block to block. Back it went and was told the same old story it had been run without oil. So I am now scooterless and pennyless. Awaiting progress from corospondance.

My question to anyone out there who is not a moron and would not run their scooter without oil. Have any of you had problems like that.... either squeeling noise. Or any malfunction that could have been caused by a lack of oil to engine (caused by some internal fault of mechanics or air lock etc not blindness, cause last time I looked you needed sight to ride a scooter) and also sudden death of power while driving but still having a normally preforming scooter in between pain in the "banned word" faults...dissapointments all round and I was so looking forward to an italian summer's scooter riding, had even bought a summer dress which wont look so cool on the bus...!!????

the squeaky or squealing is the belt slipping, it happens when they wear down, change it every 6000km and the sudden loss of power maybe down to petrol getting to engine, check fuel lines and clean carburettor. Also check air filter and air boxer for dirt and water getting into carb. I had exact same problems to you. The squealing is the belt definately and i would say that the petrol line is losse or leaking or blocked

No oil in the engine would cause it to seize so thats not happened for sure . A squeek rattle ect is virtualy impossible to diagnose over the internet. The cutting out , more likely to be iether a drop of water in the fuel bowl at the botto of the carb , their is a drain withe a single screw , so no need to strip down, or a fuel vent pipe.may be traped causing a vacume in the tank ,you could check this by undoing the fuel filler slightly and runnoing the engine revved up slightly for a minuite or so but dont ride it with he fuel cap loose
