This review isn't about the TomTom One device itself, which I have to say is a great piece of kit, rather it is about the map updating service offered by TomTom. I own a TomTom One, and although having purchased previous maps/updates the map within device is currently not up to date. When I connect to TomTom Home software, I am advised that new maps are avilable to purchase at a cost of £19.80 for a full year (4 updates). However, in order to obtain these updates I must first pay £19.80 to update/upgrade the current map within my device. Only then may I purchase the 4 updates. This is a true cost of £39.60 to update my current map. Scandalous! It is clearly good publicity for TomTom to advertise 4 updates at only £19.80, however they're not so keen to advise of other costs. Be aware!
