Good Points

Excellent playability of all kinds of disks. Superb picture quality even at high zoom factors.


Bad Points

The User Interface leaves a lot to be desired. Having worked on developing the stack for Philips 750 and 950 versions, this is a rather primitive UI.
The remote control is extremely cluttered. The keys are not intuitively placed as with the higher versions.
MP3 playback menu displays only the files that are in the root directory and not those in lower levels.


General Comments

The Philips DVD729K DVD player is excellent value for money if one does not look for frills.
Picture quality superb.
Definitely recommend it for people who need a basic player.
