Having had a thoroughly good experience in using Hayes & Jarvis in 1998 to go to Thailand, I decided to try them again for a trip to India, including a tour, in Jan 2011. I wish I hadn't and the holiday hasn't even started yet. I booked and left a credit card deposit in July 2010. When the time came to pay the balance I sent it on-line, again by credit card. An acknowledgement was sent to me by e-mail. So far so good.



A phone call from H&J later that day told me that, because I live in France that my credit card was unacceptable, despite it being a NatWest card, for both the deposit(4 months ago!)and the balance. No commercial organization has ever said such a thing to me before and my bank was equally mystified. So I sent H&J a cheque for the holiday balance. They had agreed to reverse the credit card payment, including the deposit. And they agreed to do this before presenting the cheque.



Now they have the credit card payments, have cashed the cheque and I have heard nothing from them. So right up front they have been incompetent, have failed to keep an agreement , have been paid twice and have not contacted me. Their policy on credit cards is very strange. So my fear now, unless this matter is swiftly rationalised, is that they are in financial trouble and I might see none of the money and obtain no holiday.



I shall not deal with Hayes and Jarvis again!
