Quite literally the worst customer service I have ever received at Delhi Airport transfer desk.
The staff were incompetent, very poorly trained, rude and unhelpful. The airline overbooked our connecting flight by about 20 seats bouncing many of us who had booked the flight months before. We were kept at the desk for three hours without any explanation of what was happening until the connecting flight closed. There was no queuing system so in the warm airrport atmosphere fights were almost breaking out. This greed or incompetence resulted in a 23 hour wait witout any offer of a bed anywhere. Some people got a meal voucher which arrived reluctantly a few hours later.
The whole thing was about to be repeated the next day when fortunately one of the passengers suggested a sit in at the desk and a Seikh guy who was travelling with us went to talk to two soldiers stationed at our gate. They were appalled enough to contact airport security and ordered them to get us on a plane.
I will never fly Air India or go anywhere near Delhi Airport ever again. It's a real shame because the new airport isn't a bad place to spend two or three hours and the flight attendents were lovely.
