I joined Slimming World because I wanted to loose the 2.5 stones I'd gained by eating the same portions as my partner (a male, and over a foot taller than me!) over a 12 months period! I didn't want to spend my life counting numbers like Weight Watchers as I don't think this is a natural way to live. Slimming World worked very well in the early months, it's basically common sense, the 2 stones came off steadily over a year and that's great, however, getting this last half stone off is a real nightmare. I don't know ANYONE who has reached their target who still comes to group for free!! Are there any people who reach target?! Common sense tells me that in the end it all adds up to calories and there is no way I can reach target unless I DON'T each as much protein as I like on a red day, I have to reduce the two salmon steaks to one!, but SW don't tell you this, why? Where's the advice for when you near target? No-where. This is where Slimming World falls down for me. I've 'maintained' for 2 months! 2 months! The only way is to eat even less and the consultant is either lieing, as she must know you can't eat as much as you like of this or that as I'm NOT loosing weight! As you reach target, it gets much harder to believe in the plan. It is also expensive. I think they encourage you to attend group and STAY as it becomes a kind of social club, you get to know people, join in the raffle, but it's an expensive 1 hour! Good new lifestyle that if you follow it, you will loose weight, wide variety of natural foods, healthier eating, common sense, with treats to keep you human. But don't expect miracles. It's down to you in the end.
