I hoped to hire a small, hassle-free, safe car.
IN SUMMARY The car had faults, the staff where careless and they lacked important knowledge about costs and procedures.
Read the following details if want a laugh:
Ariel had been snapped off and sales person checking me out didn't notice this so I drew his attention to it. If I hadn't been thorough and helped him to do his job, when car was checked back in I could have been charged for damage!
When I handed back car reported that aircon didn't work and steering wheel vibrated badly at 70mph (legal limit)and suggested wheel balance needed checking, was told shouldn't drive fast in a small car! I was left feeling NOTHING was going to be done to check the car for the next punter.
Finally, I stupidly locked my keys in the boot (OK that's dim) and when I sought advice from Enterprise to tell me what to do, first it transpired they keep spare car keys at an office somewhere near london, £200 and 24 hours to get them sent up to Nottingham. So that was not an option. Then finally I was told to ring the Breakdown cover number, why it took an hour to get back to me to advise me to do this I don't know..... To top it all, nobody at Enterprise (or the AA bloke who got in the car in 9 seconds) told me that there is a £72 fee for this service. It's called 'operator error' and I was liable for it. The first I knew of the charge was when I saw the debit in my statement....Damn Cheeky!
I'd been glowingly told by an Enterprise operative, when I took the car out, that I was covered for everything except putting in the wrong fuel.... NOT TRUE
