Had damage from a blocked drain which overflowed in the kitchen, damaging floorboards and laminate flooring. It took almost 3 weeks to get an assessor out to come and estimate damage and put together a proposal because Crawfords subcontractors didn't have sufficient staff to get out to us sooner. To be fair, once the repair proposal had gone in, it was approved fairly quickly, and Redrose were appointed to come and do the strip-out. By the time the strip-out had actually happened, the driers arrived to find that, surprise surprise, everything had already dried out and there was nothing to dry. The strip-out itself was a disaster, with the team that arrived managing to trash my garage door when they closed it, and then getting all uppity about it saying it could have injured their team etc etc, so now I get to pay for my own garage door replacement. They also left a puddle on the kitchen floor from where they'd taken the dishwasher out :-(
4 days after the driers have been and gone there is still no sign of anyone to come and put our kitchen back together again. I called Crawford, and it seems my file was amongst 54 files that were transferred to their Dublin office. They promised me a call yesterday, but nothing, and when I called again today they didn't answer. Called Tesco again to complain, who managed to get me through to Crawford eventually, only to be told the files arrived on Monday, and had only just been assigned a handler :-(
They will apparently get Redrose to call us to arrange the kitchen refit by tomorrow morning latest. I'm not holding my breath, but will definitely be looking to move my insurance as soon as this nightmare is over.
