Good Points

Bluetooth rocks! I've got the HBH-15 headset (now it's finally available) and really look forward to getting the Ericsson car kit when it comes out in a few months (apparently).
I love the way the phone book works. Synchronise with Outlook is particularily logical... with the fact that the phone stores first name, last name, title and company name in different fields being a large help.

Bad Points

The software sucks. They've obviously chucked it on-top a processor which is about a quarter of the speed required for what it's trying to do. There are awful delays when trying to do anything that appears to be memory intensive for the phone.
Worst points concern text messaging where the lag time in "typing" in your message with T9 can make it unusable.
The menu structure is not very logical... therefore it can be difficult to find something you want... it took me months to work out how to transfer a number that had been SMSed to me into my phone book!

General Comments

The R520m mobile phone appears to have been rushed out of the door by Ericsson and suffers from a slow processor which makes most use tedious.

However... you get bluetooth, tri-band capability, a cool design (that actually feels like a phone - unlike all these micro-phones out now!) and a package that fundamentally works (despite the software speed).

Be careful buying bluetooth PCMCIA cards for your laptop as the hardware seems to be a bit of a nightmare. After speaking to a guy in Ericsson technical support I discovered that the 3Com card I purchased (the one with the cool flippy out ariel) does not work with the Ericsson phone (apparently a 3Com problem! ;))... therefore I had to go out and buy a Xircom card instead. It seems to work - but I did appear to see quite a long lag time on the connection and I do not like the way the software installs -too naggy.
