I've just ordered one to control the birds in the wife's garden. Have been using my Savage .22 but worried about killing something, like, 2Km away. I've been reading the reviews and now I'm even more worried that Im gonna lose the ability to spell once it arrives

This is a review of a BSA Meteor? Could have fooled me!
'.....control the birds' I must suppose means shooting at them with intent to kill, and if this be so, and if you are resident in the UK, you are commiting an offence if they are song birds. Even with birds that are considered vermin, you have to show 'just cause'. And that can be difficult.
If you are 'worried' about killing something 2 kilometres away, then it seems that there is a possibility that your pellets are going to land beyond the bounds of your property which, again, if you are in the UK, is an extremely serious offence and could lead to a custodial sentence. But whatever country you reside in, judging from what you have written, I have to suggest that an air weapon in your hands is a danger to all and sundry.
I thought that most of the comic opera characters had abandoned contributing to these airgun columns but obviously there is at least one alive and well, which triggers a similar reaction in me to what Job must surely have experienced as he contemplated the development of his forty-third boil.
Pity you have posted as a 'Guest' which appellation I think the management was unwise to institute as it can encourage... err...'contributions' like yours because a 'name', which is unique, can at least be avoided if seen again. There is a certain photographic website that has an 'Ignore' buttton which facility could well be argued for here!
You have awarded just the ONE star all round to an air rifle that you've 'just ordered'!! Need I write any more? No, but when you get it go and use it RESPONSIBLY and then come back with something more like a review.
