I used PackYourClubs.com to find accommodation for a golf holiday in the Eastern Algarve (I've been to the Algarve many times before but always turned West from the airport). The Packyourclubs website was easy to use and offered a massive range of accommodation. The website is a listing site so they don't charge commission and the property prices are definitely cheaper. I eventually settled on a 3 bed townhouse with private pool in Manta Rota (between Tavira and the Spanish border). The cost was '490 (£440) for the week which is excellent value. Manta Rota is excellent (much more 'real', laid back and generally nicer than the Western Algarve). The golf was also superb, Benamor was good but Monte Rei is excellent. If you get the chance for a golf holiday I can't recommend the Eastern Algarve (or Packyourclubs.com) highly enough

I've not been to the Algarve for golf in nearly 5 years because of it's too expensive and it's always a slow round. Sounds like a villa based golf holiday in the Eastern Algarve is the solution (perhaps getting time to nip across to also play Isantilla in Spain)
