The car, hired via carrentalabroad, had a flat tyre which turned out to be unusable and dangerous. The inside of the tyre was shredded down to the wire beading. Before we accepted the car we were told to drive to a garage and pump it up or change the tyre! The spare was a temporary speed restricted tyre as the others were all low profile. Eventually, the manager was called who accepted responsibility and drove the car to a garage and had both front tyres replaced. The result was a delay of nearly 3 hours which meant we arrived in the dark at an unfamiliar location.

If we had not been vigilant and insistent we could have been driving an unsafe vehicle.

Clearly, the local company do not appear to do any checks before re-hire. We have emailed and written to carrentalabroad but have not even had an response. We would not use them again and have come to the conclusion that its better to pay more and go direct to one of the main hirers.
