Orpheus Island Resort is a privately-owned island located on the Great Barrier Reef.



The arrival on the seaplane after seeing a huge sperm whale in the pristine waters off the island was no less than spectacular. Bridget and Aaron the resort managers gave us a warm and informative welcome along with the invitation to relax and enjoy which we did in great style and comfort.



The beach style understated accommodation was fitting for the National Park environment and with everything one could wish. The gourmet meals and wine list were enjoyed with gusto and the 7 course degustation menu in the evenings was an indulgence. Activities both in on and around the waters are plentiful and one can do as much or as little without guilt or pressure.



This is our 3rd visit to Orpheus and we'll certainly be back. As far as "high end" destintions on the reef go - none can match the special charm, character and service of this glorious place.
