Cheap and Nasty
General Comments
You get what you pay for and the JVC GRDVL150 digital camcorder is no exception. Made from flimsy plastic the camera feels almost like a toy. The video quality is pretty good to be fair but the motors inside the device are so loud that they get picked up by the mike and sound terrible in playback. If you're on a budget and don't care too much about how your movies sound (silent movies or post record audio dubbing etc.) then it's probably a good buy. Otherwise look elsewhere.

Honest and helpful. Good that the reviewer identified a particular flaw that helps me make up my mind about this product and others.

I'm afraid I disagree with the comments made about this JVC camcorder. Yes it is made out of plastic, but feels pretty solid to me in everyday use. The advantage is that its quite light, which makes carrying it all day very comfortable. I've used it all day at times, and the battery life is excellent. I did buy a larger capacity battery as a back-up, but even with the supplied battery, its power consumption is low. I have not noticed any excessive motor noise, but with front mounted stereo microphones clumsy handling is picked up easily. Picture quality for such a cheap camera is astonishing, I have used it in all sorts of conditions, and have been delighted with the results. I've had it a year now, and its been faultless, and certainly not showing any signs of wear and tear. Would I recommend it, yes, its been an excellent buy at £367 (bought April 2002)

Quite a fair review but I have to say that I have not suffered the same recording of motor noise nor has the noise been any louder that some more expensive hi brand names. It is fairly light for its size, but that just means that you are able to continue to record for longer without the need to work out in the gym 5 times a weeks to hold it. Yes , you do get what you pay for thank goodness, a good buy.
