The Anchor is set beside the canal at Pyrford Lock and is very picturesque. There is both inside and outside seating and which you choice is weather dependent. Sunday lunchtimes, school holidays and hot days it can be extremely busy. Food is served both lunchtimes and the evenings. There is not a vast range of choice on the menu but ample choice for most customers. There is always a choice of 2 roasts on a Sunday lunchtime in addition to the other items. We found the quality of food to be very good good with generous portions. Inside it is table service and outside you have to order at the bar giving your table number. The service was top notch both efficient and friendly. The staff all looked smart. The cost of food was very reasonable. A choice of wines and if your enjoy a pint of cask ale they sell Badger and 2 other Hall and Woodhouse ales. Highly recommended. There is alarge car park opposite the venue but no public transport available. Some very nice canal walks from here.
