I placed an order to unlock my HTC Desire (as O2 was being a pain to unlock it!) for GBP 9.95 . The response was fast, and Jason, the customer service rep, informed me that the unlock code was not available via their normal server, and it would cost me another GBP 9.95 to get the code from a premium server. In all fairness, they offered to return our original payment if we did not want to pay more or the whole thing if the second round didnt work. It did however, and only took about 5 minutes to get the code.
Also, they billed us in Canadian Dollars, not GBP, so we incurred additional costs (1 pound) by our bank.
All in all, it cost us GBP 20.34 to unlock with these guys. Compare that with $15 pounds that O2 wanted to charge us, but we had to wait 12 months (although the sales guy in the store said we could get it immediately, but customer service wouldnt let us.. The things people say to make a sale! ), and it would take 28 days to get the code.
