I won't be using Megabus again after I purchased a ticket for the 12pm from
London Victoria to Cardiff on Sat 28th. I turned up in advance of the coach
leaving time - myself and 2 other waiting for the coach at the usual stop (or so I thought). We knew something was wrong because there were only three of us waiting there, but I kept checking my ticket and it said 'Victoria Coach Station' and that was where we were. 12 o'clock came and went and I eventually ran into a random shop and asked if they knew anything about the megabus stop - as there was nothing else to do - no-one to help us, no customer services number on the ticket and no information posted up anywhere. We were informed that the stop had moved to another Victoria coach station (wasn't aware there were 2), but by that time it was too late to get to the new stop - we also had no idea where it was anyway.
We then saw the Megabus to Cardiff drive past us. We shouted up at the driver to ask where we should go to get on the bus, but he looked nonchalant and refused to respond. We chased after the bus for a while but eventually gave up.
I missed the first half of my sister's hen do that day and had to pay £70 to get to Cardiff, not to mention wasting the £13 I spent on the tickets in the first place. Not sure what happened to the other 2 because they were students and blatantly couldn't afford £70 for the train.
I'm disappointed that Megabus didn't make more effort to:
Highlight on the ticket that the stop had changed from the usual place
Put a map on the ticket so people can find the way
Put a notice up in Victoria Coach station at the old stop - telling
people where the new stop is
Put the customer services number on the ticket so people could call if
there were confused about where to get the bus from
Megabus should realise the impact that it has on people's lives when they miss transport and value its customers more highly. But then maybe you get what you pay for in this world - so from now on, I'll be forking out £70 to get on the
