Just returned from a four day trip with mixed feelings. The ship itself was superb, as was the entertainment. The shows were worthy of the West End. Johnny Rockets burger bar was great with the staff singing and dancing to Donna Summer! That's about all I can find good about it. We ate in the Macbeth dining room and found some meals inedible. Portions were huge but lacked quality. Having cruised with P & O on a number of occasions they should send their chef to see how to do it. Ordering wine with dinner was a bit of a hit and miss affair. There was no wine waiter so the waiter at the table had to deal with it. Our waiter told us that if we didn't mark him as excellent he would 'lose points' and that could result in his contract not being renewed - a very sad state of affairs. The prices for drinks were extortionate - $20 for two glasses of very average Pinot Grigio. In four days our bar bill was nearly $500! The expectation for tips was unacceptable. Even the head waiter expected an envelope at the end of the cruise even though he was hardly in evidence. We don't intend to book with Royal Caribbean again Long live P & O!!
