Piaggio Zip 100cc
Pros:
Very economical - Cheap and 7 litres of petrol got me, a 17 stone guy, 100 miles (give or take)
Comfortable standard seat.
Cheap (mine cost me £650)
42.5mph speed limit (30 uphill,50 downhill)
Cons:
Prone to malfunctions - Not expensive to fix, but incredibly irritating when you 'need to use it now'.
Kick start NEVER works.
Doesn't idle very well, doesn't like stopping at traffic lights in winter.
I got my Piaggio Zip 4-stroke 100cc about a year ago, just in time for starting university and it only had 2500km on it, with one previous owner who was middle aged man.
At first it was fantastic, I finally got a little bit of independence and the scooter was running very well and I felt safe as houses on it.
Then the left brake switch went, so now having to start the bike with the right brake (not a huge issue, just a niggle). Then it became Winter, and the engine kept cutting out at traffic lights because it was too cold. Then the battery conked out. Then after a short holiday I went to get on it, turned the steering but the wheel didn't turn with it!
If you are desperate it'll probably be better than a Chinese bike - But I suggest investing in a Honda or Yamaha or the like. I know I will be next time.
