“Argos and a 42 inch Bush Plasma is a nightmare. 7 days...”

Written on: 09/08/2010

Argos and a 42 inch Bush Plasma is a nightmare. 7 days I used a TV costing me £ 455 and there is no picture. Argos has refused to do anything about it. I purchased the TV in June 2010, it has a full 12 months warranty and Argos wont do anything and customer service would do nothing but give rude answers and say we WONT DO ANYTHING. Its one of the most frustrating experiences. I have paid £455 and have a TV which I used for 7 days still under full 12 months warranty and Argos says there are no spare parts available in the market and its non-repairable and argos cant assist - trust argos to do that. I say at least I will never ever go to Argos ever again !!!!!!!!!!!!! I advise everyone never to buy a TV from here

I cannot believe Argos are being so stupid, They have a legal obligation to repair or replace faulty goods up to 7 years from sale date (EEC Law) The amount of restitution can be reduced as the years go by but for the first couple of years they are obliged to replace goods that are "not of merchantable quality" at full price or very close.

A TV costing £400 plus is not a consumable item and should be expected to last a "reasonable" time. One year is not reasonable. Another thing is that they are responsible for the cost of returning it by carrier or post back for repair/replacement and the return costs back to you.

You can check all this with Trading Standards and as I am a manufacturer/retailer believe me this is true.

Do not be put off by the suggestion that it is the resonsibility of the manufacturer, it is not. Your contract of purchase was with Argos not Bush etc.

Push hard and if all fails take them to the Small Claims Court and you will win. This assumes you bought the TV as new and not a reject/second etc

Best of luck. Barry
