I've taken out a loan for car purchase. Online application worked fine - made the application Saturday afternoon, rang call centre following Monday and they confirmed approval of my application. Fine, but I needed the money in 7 days' time and was told I would have to pay for courier service for documents - expensive at £59, but DHL service was very good - courier came on time, documents signed and returned. However, I have couple of other issues. Firstly, I requested a loan for 36 months, but was advised by Sainsbury's telesales person that I wouldn't have to pay anything till November (as if this was a bonus). The catch is that the interest runs from the end of August - i.e. I have the loan two months longer 9and have to pay two months more interest) than I wanted. Secondly, when speaking to the call centre, they asked me if I was interested in a sainsbury's credit card. I said no, but the documents delivered by the courier included the credit card agreement form. The instructions ask you to sign and return this along with signed loan agreement, saying that you have been accepted for the card when you haven't even made an application. I had to phone the call centre again to check that I didn't have to sign the card agreement. I don't like this kind of practice which less than transparent, which is why I have only given 3 stars overall. Lets hope the money goes into my bank in time!
