I missed my outbound flight due to the massive queues at London Heathrow. Lufthansa say they have dedicated baggage drop off areas for people who have checked in online. This is not the case, there is one service desk with 3 people doing check-in and baggage drop off and enquiries. This made me 5 minutes late for baggage drop off and was told I could not board my flight for which I was already checked in for. They quoted me £305 for a new ticket. I refused to pay this. I got a flight with another carrier to the same airport for £83. I telephone Lufthansa and explained what had happened, and asked if I could still use my return flight. I was told I could. I had my holiday and went to the airport for my return trip and was told I did not have a ticket. The person quoted me £349 for a ticket home! I found this outrageous. I spoke to a manager and this was reduced to £145 still not ideal, but better, I took this flight. I boarded the aircraft and found it to have no more than 30 passengers on board. I was disgusted. Presently in dispute with Lufthansa about their rules.
