“The NCL Dawn is an older ship with nothing impressive...”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 19/07/2010

The NCL Dawn is an older ship with nothing impressive about it. I have sailed with Royal Caribbean and Carnival, and this is the worst of the three...yes, even worse than Carnival! The problem with NCL is the "freestyle" mentality. All freestyle really means is no standards and long waits. The crew and wait staff could care less if you have a long wait. This is due to the Pre-paid gratuity requirement. Honestly, what would motivate these workers if they are already receiving a tip? NOTHING. Dinners were impossible to get a table at, unless you paid for a fee based restaurant, and the dinners were ridiculously slow...3+ hours for basically cafeteria quality food (and remember, service that was terrible). There was not one thing that would bring me back to that cruise. It was truly a disappointment. If you would like a trip that includes personal service, excellent food, and amazing amenities, DO NOT CHOOSE NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE!
