We have just returned from Sandaway Beach Holiday park in Combe Martin. We booked this short break through the Sun newspaper £9.50 holidays,i'm going to get to the point, it was a bargain! The park is lovely, staff are friendly, the club house is on the small side but was always clean, our caravan was a primula bronze, to be honest we were a bit anxious with only paying £60.00 for 4 people for a short break (M-F, on arrival we were really suprised as the caravan was nice, obviously not the best they have,we had a sea view, 2 bedroomed caravan,clean and tidy,no damp, had everything we needed. There is an outdoor heated pool too. In the John Fowler brochure it says they have their own private beach which is true and it does tell you that it is down some steps, 76 to be exact which is ok going down but coming back up well...if you are fit then no probs, we were all shattered. The brochure also says that you are in walking distance to Combe Martin...again this is all down hill going but really is a trawl to come back up really steep uphil all the way, when it said walking distance i presumed that it would be flat ish, there is a bus service that runs every 30mins there and back though. Combe Martin itself was lovely but not much there at all, Londis shop, 1 gift shop,1 ice cream shop and 2 pubs one of them overlooks the beach/harbour and trust me that is it, if you are happy to relax at the park and don't want to shop til u drop then this is fine, we travelled into Ilfracombe which was ok again not alot there litle bit more than Combe Martin, we also ventured to Woolacombe, famous for it's beach, 2 miles of flat golden sands which was lush and also a surfers paradise. We would definitley go here again for a nice relaxing holiday, lovely clean park etc.
