Dont't be put off by the smiley face - underneath lies a commercial machine, with performance and reliability to match. I will openly admit to being a ham-fisted goon, I have a habit of accidentally damaging things, so decided that a commercial vacuum was what I needed, having broken several domestic models, two of which were Dyson machines - these don't deserve the reputation they have.
No question about it, the Henry is very tough and resilient, will survive being dropped down stairs, trodden on, sucking up rubble, screws, brick dust etc. The twin speed motor is very handy - on the low setting it is more than capable of normal household cleaning for hard floors and rugs, it is very quiet too. The high/full power setting is great for cleaning up DIY mess.
This is one of the quietest vacuums I have ever used, much quieter than those Dyson things which would put an F-16 to shame. The Henry can be used bagged or bagless, though I personally use them with bags, this prolongs the life of the massive Tritex filter, and makes emptying the machine much easier. Normal paper bags or Numatic's special Hepa-Flo are both available, the Hepa-Flo are very good and very little dust passes through them.
The Henry arrives pretty much ready to go, no tools are required to assemble the remaining parts, they either screw or push into place. The long cable and long hose are great features, they save unplugging and re-plugging as the vacuum moves around the house.
To sum up, if you are looking for a solid, reliable, no-frills machine, then the Henry fits the bill nicely. It costs considerably less than a plastic jet-fighter, and will last for a good 20yrs if treated correctly.
