These were my worst flights ever ~ 9.5h of puragtory out, ~ 8.5 hr return [Calgary] in an economy seat i.e 30" pitch. If you're male even slightly above average height/build: prepare for prolonged and extreme discomfort! In terms of leg room Candian Affair's [CA] website says: 'Thomas Cook Airbus A330 - up to 33" seat pitch in economy, 34" in Premium. Air Transat Airbus a330/A310 - 32 " seat pitch, 34" in Club Class'. I'm intrigued by the words 'up to 33" which are not repeated in the captions on the aircraft diagrams below - these give a single figure of greater pitch than we had. The flights are knowingly cramped which allows CA to charge a premium for exit and other seats!
Thomas Cook [TC] on the return flight publically stated they have 'more generous pitch for long haul flights'. Laudable enough but TC are quite prepared to allow CA to casually [we were told from the 1st May and after we paid] impose a lesser standard on seat pitch than they have themselves on long haul flights. I've read other comments about CA and can only hope TC are not looking for a long term relationship.
