I heard about THC a little time ago. This is a controversial movie in the sense that it's so surreal as it is sick and twisted. The opening scenes start off like any other horror movie. Annoying American whining girls get lost in the woods, seek help but end up the victim of some nasty torture crazed person. There is no real plot with the movie. It's all about creating extremes in human torture and medical abuse. The idea is simple. Abduct three people, use a ligament from their kneecaps, cut out teeth, connect intestines from one to the other and they feed from excreting one to the other! Twisted isn't it? The dcctor had tried out the experiment on 3 head dog and it failed. I was DYING to see a flashback, but we're never rewarded with this. There's some quite funny dark humour scenes that at time parody the movie, other times are just plainly twisted. It's the same dark feeling and humour as used in Dexter the series, but with a concept that probably only Cronenberg would have used. As the american girls mouths are sown up to an abducted Japanese guy's anus and then one another, butt to mouth. They feed by passing food one to the other, by --- you guessed it, by excreting it via anus. The doctor's experiment worked, he made Siamese triplets and the rest of the movie is about the centipede's hope of escape and cruel torment by the doctor on treating them and training them like a dog. The doctor's performance is very good if only as his tone and demeanor strikes a chord with the nazi token. Eventually the police turn up a few weeks later and question the doctor. This leads to a series of events and a really quite sick ending! It's a pity the movie didn't finish with Steelers Wheel - "Stuck in the Middle with you". You'll find out why! What the movie can be praised for is it's extreme nature and getting past the censors plus mainstream acknowledgement. Where the Reanimator was particularly light this movie is the extreme of the forthcoming movie Splice! I gave the movie 3 stars based on its bravery to be made and the extreme nature of the story. It's not original enough and there are some major plot holes involving stairs in the final moments of the movie. Why was it a big deal as surely they must have been doing it every day!
