I have had my Hotpoint FF200E "Future" Frost Free fridge freezer for about 2 years, the current one is a replacement made after only 6 months.
I replaced a Zanussi Fridge Freezer with this Hotpoint, the Zanussi I gave to my mother, that Zanussi is till going strong and problem free and now about 7 years old.
I am still getting ice build up in the base of the Hotpoint FF200E freezer compartment and have to remove the ice most weeks. I now have a thermometer in the fridge compartment, this should read between 2 & 6 degrees centigrade. Today it reads 10 degrees, much too warm and today I have defrosted the fridge freezer and removed the ice again.
I also have rust around the bottom of the freezer where it meets the door.
"Future Frost Free" should mean it never needs defrosting, in my experience that statement is false.
Hotpoint, Indesit, Creda, Ariston etc.. all belong to the the Indesit company of Italy (formerly Merloni Elettrodomestici). I threw away my Indesit washing machine after only 2 years which I guess says everything.
My next purchase will be more than likely a Bosch, Electrolux/Zanussi but definately not a Hotpoint/Indesit/Ariston.
They were good once but that's history.
