I have a few problems with DWH.
I'll start with the positives. The house itself is really nice and quite well planned. The whole development is also really good and well spaced with lots of greenery and parks (unlike a lot of new build developments). The customer care during the initial purchase period was also quite good.
But it's gone down hill since we moved in. The house developed so much condensation that we had a flood after a week of being there. The house was festooned with pencil marks and other examples of quite slapdash workmanship but there are two big issues we've had. We've had leaks and lots of other problems that seem to affect our neighbours as well - which are all a result of shoddy workmanship.
1.) We left them our key to come and deal with some snags but despite asking more than 8 times for the key back they refused to give it back. I eventually had to catch both the sales advisor and site manager together and accompany them to the works cabin to get my key. To make matters worse we were told that the builders had come into our house without our invitation and whilst my wife and I were in bed. I went ballistic when I found this out, I can't think what would have happened if I'd been disturbed by what I thought could have been an intruder. They've yet to apologise for this - basically whilst building is still going on the whole place is the builders domain, and that includes the interior and exterior of your house (the contractors block our garage daily)
2.) Our driveway. Where to start? We were promised a garage and a driveway. We have just a garage and a small approach to it. We raised parking as our number one concern during our first chat with them. We were assured we'd have a full length parking space. As the house was being built we raised the uber small parking space with them, we were assured it would be extended. As of last week we were told that there are no plans to extend it due to building regs. The sales woman lied to us, blatantly. David Wilson are insisting that the space in front of our garage (which my wifes Nissan Micra will not fit on) is technically a 'parking space' and we should basically get lost. There is no where else to park close to our house and we don't know what we'll do now. We're both really upset that they lied to us about this, especially as we raised it as the number 1 concern.
We have to chase them constantly for things, and although things are not awful I genuinely I couldn't recommend a DWH house to my friends. You expect a bit more when you buy a new house - we certainly didn't get it.
