Good Points
Loads of features

Bad Points
Slow and unreliable. Hard to access features. Nasty 'clicky' buttons. Slow.

General Comments
The Siemens SL45 mobile phone should have come out 6 months later. By then they could have made it faster, more reliable and user friendly - it is none of these. My 2nd one has just broken so I've gone back to my old Nokia 9110 brick. OK this sums it up - it has an inbuilt MP3 player, great. But is there USB connection? No, you have to go and buy a USB card reader or sit and wait hours for each track to load up via a serial cable. Can u use standard 3.5 mm headphones? No, you can only use the weak and awful Siemens ones. Give enough monkeys enough time and one day we might actually get a decent MP3 phone/organiser. Some time 2003?

ta for being so honest about the problems. in fact you've answered all the questions i was bound to ask in a store, probably failing to get a decent answer.
 
 i'll hold on for the SL45+, roll on '03 as you say.

Some people are so in love with their phones, they don't see their problems. Very hard therefore to get all the +'ves & -'ves on a model. Lots of good stuff on the SL45, nice to read a helpful downside to it!

Helpful, but I'd like to know what bit on the phone failed. My SL45 has an intermittent fault or two. It gets stuck. Either half-way through a menu or when 'Searching for Network' and sometimes just switches itself off.
 Battery fine and signal fine. Software fault??

My phone also has the problem of shutting down without notifying. The battery is fine, it just went done a notch, If i make a call when the battery is done a notch from full, the phone shuts down. Sent it for repair, hopes all goes well.

This is a nice little phone, but your review sums up the problem: the slowness, especially when typing sms and scrolling through your inbox.

i dont get your hard to use comment. nearly every function can be accessed by the speed dial type access and thery can can be altered to suit what you want at get at quickly
