i bought this fan back in april of 2000, so i have had it for about 9 going on 10 years now, it's not my only fan but it's my most used one. the way to clean it is to take a phillips head screwdriver and remove the 6 screws in the back. i have had to do maintenance work on it twice, one was because it would turn on but the blade would barelly move and the motor made a loud humming noise, so i took the cover off, and tightend up the spindle support just enough to where the blade moved freely without being presured. (this happend about 3 years after i bought it)and the 2nd time it just didnt seem to be running right so i sprayed the spindle, which i do everytime after i clean it. AND TRUST ME, THIS FAN HAS TAKEN ABUSE BUT STILL WORKS GREAT.
