This backpack lasted me on a whole year's travels, and also came in useful for a friend on her trip. The compartments are very handy, and it is just about the right size and weight for a girl, even a small one like me (5'2"). The fold-down sections (one at the top and one at the very bottom) keep items waterproof, and help to compress down too. The straps are very comfortable, and the middle straps which go around your waist are vital to keeping the bulk of the weight on your hips rather than on your back. Made a huge difference!
