General Comments

Purchased Ford Ikon 1.6LX May 2001.
September & October 2001.
1. Front passenger side under the dashboard gets wet when car is washed or in the rain. Took car back to garage who claim to have "fixed" the leakage 4 times (they removed the windscreen even though I advised them that's not the problem). Had to take car to a different garage where the engineer from Ford had to attend to it (fixed in October).

2. Rubber on passenger rear door loose, door must be closed thrice before it closed properly.

3. Entire plastic casing (that covers the steel bar to move the seat fwd/back) came off. Garage fixed it.

4. Right hand side of dashboard came loose. Garage fixed it.

5. Left hand side clip that holds the backseat in place was broken (put in leather seats).

6. Screw/clip that holds the the carpet below the cubby was broken and fell out.

6. Radio died.

January 2002
7. Car got stuck in peak traffic in the rain. Garage claims that even though the fuel guage showed that the car had fuel. It was empty. They replaced the guage with a "New" one. (In my new car!!!!).

This car only has 10000km on it. It hasn't even been for it's first service yet, but it's been in the garage 7 times already. For a brand new car this is unacceptable.

Thank you for turning my pride and joy in buying my first car into a trial and nightmare that has me reluctant to drive a FORD.

Currently looking for another car. Was considering another "Ford" but after getting stuck, Forget it!!!!!

    I agree with your view on the passenger side getting wet during the rain. I thought it was spcific to my car. I have to take it to the garage for fixing it. I bought 1.6ZXi in June 2000 and since last two years I didn't face any problem with the car.

    hello there,,,
    I believe you are carrying a wrong impression of the car...i have an IKON 1.6zxi which is a power house in itself..i do agree the maintenance is high but always remember that quality never comescheap especially you have to pay a very high price for the power you own for yourself
