I have the same problem with my copper based Prestige pans bought 20 years ago at a price of £40 each, way back then! The handle fell off one pan over Xmas and a lid handle broke clean off some time ago. I contacted the company and was told if the pans were bought before 1997, I have no come back - lifetime guarantee void. If your pans were bought after 1997, you have to send them back for inspection!
Saying all that, I WILL buy Prestige again, I do the weight test in the shops, balancing the pan, without lid in the pan of my hand to gauge if theweight is in the base or just the handle. Prestige come out best every time, though I would never buy a non stick pan.
