Model is a Hotpoint FF175B
WE have owned this fridge freezer for 14 months now, and i get the impression the timer in the back has just past the "out of warranty position" and it just clicked into Problems position, on a more serious note, this appliance is a disgrace to Hotpoint, we moved into our new house as first time buyers with very little to fork out for kitchen equipment and appliances, but we thought we would invest in what Which magazine had listed as a good buy, economical and fairly good rating.
So we purchased all Hotpoint appliances, fridge freezer, tumble dryer, dishwasher, and washing machine, all the others except the fridge freezer are Aquarius range. So the dishwsher now makes a buzzing noise, cleaned the seals etc like it says on user manual, has not gone. But the main reason im writing this is for the FF175B, what a junk box, i think this is now typical of the "disposable" lifestyle we all are living in now, it has lasted 14 months ( out of a 12 month warranty ), and now wants to cost us money, well not yet as im waiting for it to go pop. So why the stores offer extended warranties? i now know why, because it is expected for middle of the range, but still expensive appliances to fail. My mother has had a Creda fridge freezer for 12 years and not failed once, yes Creda who no longer exist as far as i am aware, or under another name.
So words of advice to anyone who is going to purchase the above model, or brand if you like, DON'T. But if you are reading this, like me you probably already have and looking for an answer to your noise or rattle, im just sorry i wasnt working in the store where you purchased it because i would have said, "Don't buy this one, its a Lemon".
