“have had cat insurance with direct line for 13 years...”

have had cat insurance with direct line for 13 years for 1 cat and 8 years for 2 cats. our eldest cat became extremely poorly and was eventually diagnosed with diabetes and needs 1 insulin injection a day. she had to remain at the vets for a week until she stabilised and the costs obviously warranted us making a claim with direct line. we have just been informed that we need records of her past visits to any vets as she may have had this before. any person with minimum amount of sense will realise that this could not have been possible as this condition is life threatening.thanks for nothing direct line.
