Since Illtuds re-opened in 2007 my family and I have visited Illtuds regularly and indeed friends on our recommendation have also become regulars. The welcome is warm and as word has spread they have a firm favourite for locals and those travelling futher a field.
Sunday lunch is not be missed - whese else could you be Beef Carpaccio with Tiger Prawns or Christmas Soup (carrots, apples, oranges and coriander servied with crem fraiche, followed by Roasted Leg of Black Mountain Lamb with potatoes flavoured with heather honey, garlic and herbs , and finish off with the speciality of authentic Austrain Apple Strudle with a superbly smooth custard for £18.95.
The other Saturday my daughter and I popped in freezing cold so were delighted to be offered a seat by the log burning stove and tucked in to a special of the day ( Ittud's is always full of culinary surprises) savoury rolly polly pudding with bacon and onion on fresh green peas - WOW a true winter warmer. I can't wait for the 1970s New Years Eve Buffet to see in another fantastic year with friend and where better to celebrate.
I highly recommend Illtuds 216 in Llantwit Major a local gem - pop in you may find me there again.!
