I own a 2009 Burgman 650 and a 2006 Burgman 650. The only difference in the ride is that the 2009 has slightly harder engine breaking and it doesn't take bumps and pot holes a well as the 2006, maybe it's due to the fact that the 2009 is newer and not yet broken in, and it does weighs 50 lbs more than the 2006 model.
I would like to caution Burgman 650 riders: When you back off the throttle quickly from the Power mode, be careful when the road surface is wet. The engine breaking is so strong in the Power mode, that it has a tendency to lock up the rear wheel, causing the bike to skid.
Other than that, I love both Bikes, and have parked my VTX1800 Cruiser. While riding the Burgman, I do get funny stares from those pirate looking, leather clad bikers.
