When my Mach Air first arrived, because of it's small size, I questioned it's performance ability. However, I needn't have worried. Weighing in at less than 5kg it is "The lightest full size multi-cyclonic upright in the world", it certainly was a massive weight off of my shoulders.
The Mach Air has some great features but also a couple of teething problems, which I'm sure the clever people at Vax can iron out. As mentioned before, it's very lightweight, has great powerful suction, is bagless with a 1.5litre chamber and has an excellent adjustable handle. Ideal for us as I'm 5'3" and my Husband is well over 6'. This also makes it great for storage. The attachments (3-in-1 crevice tool, upholstery & dusting brush) clip easily onto the hose to clean low down (ie. Skirting boards) and the hose attaches to the handle to clean high up (Cobwebs and Stairs)
Unfortunately the stairs is where the Mach Air comes unstuck. The hose with brush attached just isn't long enough to do a staircase, which means taking it up the stairs with you. OK if you have plug sockets in the right place, I don't and the power cord could do with being at least a metre longer. For me cleaning my stairs now means getting out an extension lead. I would also love to see a flat head attachment to make the stairs a little easier.
Some other great features are the High-level H12 HEPA, making it great for allergy suffers and an LED indicator light to alert you to any blockages. The brush works wonders on carpets and can easily be turned off to use on hard floors. We have a variety of different floors, carpets, laminate, tiles and lino and it cleaned all of them brilliantly and right to the edges.
At a RRP of £179.99 and with a massive 6 year guarantee I would highly recommend the Mach Air. Having only ever owned Dyson's and cylinder vacums, I would most defiantly look at Vax first when I plan to replace my vacum - Thank You Vax!
