This was my second cruise this year. In comparison to the Thomson Destiny (June 09) the Island Escape scores well on several points over the Destiny. All the staff were much more friendly, having time for a chat, in a relaxed manner. The officers mananaged their staff without the them feeling intimidated. The IE food was marginally better, ommletes and pasta dishes made to order in the beachcomber buffet, themed cuisine, sandwich station, Ice Cream.
The IE was let down by the amount of public areas. at peak times it was sometimes difficult to get a seat in the beachcomber buffet. The ocean theatre was packed, some not able to see the show. The deck and pool areas are too small for the number of people wanting to use them, sunloungers were "towelled" and left unoccupied for hours. Drinks were priced as you'd expect, slightly higher than UK pub prices ( lager £2.90, Boddingtons £2.80 Spirits £2.50, Coca Cola can £1.50)
