Unfortunately, the seals at the cutter end have rotted out on mine and I would recommend that you remove the shaft from the wand from time to time by tapping the end of the shaft with a small hammer and punch. The complete shaft will come out. Once removed you will find seals and a small brass bush that is the bearing. Wash all of the parts and lubricate the bearing with a drop or two of machine oil. Replace the shaft into the wand and press it home. I recommend that you do not wash the wand in a dishwasher as you will remove the lubricant from the bearing which will then seize up and the seals and bearing will all turn together and destroy the seals making the unit useless.
