Warning EconomyCarRentals act as an intermediate company between you and the real rental company- therefore they are about as much use as a chocolate teapot.
So anyway, our story. We rented a car through EconomyCarRentals for a trip to Lithuania. The rental company was listed as DollarThrifty- but presumably by from franchise deal, turned out to be some random Lithuanian outfit. They didn't have an stand at the airport- instead we were met by a random guy wandering round with a clipboard. We paid the outstanding amount for the rental (147euros) in cash, and gave a credit card as a security deposit.
The car turned out to be a nicely beaten up Mazda- on checking out the car, the guy basically coloured in every panel on the sheet!
The rental was ok, the car didn't brake down, we didn't hit anything and we returned the car and dropped off the keys. This in itself was a little tricky saying that the company didn't have a stand at the airport, so after several phonecalls we were told to leave the car parked outside the airport and we should drop the keys in Europcar's drop box and someone would collect the car the next day.
Anyway, a month later a charge appeared on the credit card that we gave as a security deposit- surprise surprise for Lithuanian Litas equivalent of 147euros! We've been fighting with EcomonyCarRentals since. They deny that it is anything to do with them and very slowly pass messages backwards and forwards. So it looks like the 'partner' company has pocketed the cash we paid and then charged the credit card we gave as a security deposit!

So the moral of this story- be careful when dealing with EconomyCarRentals (I personally would advise you not to touch them with a very long stick) - you're not actually renting off them and therefore you have no way to comeback to them. Also they seem to use dodgy outfits, who will take your money and run! Go with Europcar (or other reputable company) and rent directly from them - they cost a little more initially, but they'll save you a lot of time, hassle and money!
